NATO Summit

July 7-9:
End of Globalized Order:
The NATO Summit made some significant steps, strengthening the alliance.
For those concerned about Russia/China/Iran/North-Korea a positive step.
What we see, however, is not a new order yet. An order is stable or rather: an equilibrium;
The steps we see on all sides are moving in the direction of escalation.
We all hope to get another equilibrium that enables a NewGoodLife.

Value Divergence: Elections in France

July 6: Value Divergence: Elections in France can be seen as a case of polarization;

Seen through the lens of Spiral Dynamics (provided by perplexity.ai [AI, another shadow]):

Blue Stage / Traditional Order;
The Blue stage in Spiral Dynamics represents traditional values, order, and a sense of purpose within a larger system. In the context of the French election, we can see elements of Blue thinking in the following:The far-right National Rally party, which gained significant support, often appeals to traditional values and national identity. Their emphasis on order and security aligns with Blue stage thinking.
Orange Stage / Achievement and Progress:
The Orange stage focuses on individual achievement, progress, and rational thinking. In the French political landscape, we can identify Orange elements:President Macron's centrist approach and his party Renaissance embody many Orange stage characteristics. Their focus on economic growth, innovation, and individual opportunity aligns with Orange thinking.The strategic alliances formed to prevent the far-right from gaining power demonstrate Orange-stage pragmatism and goal-oriented thinking.
Green Stage / Egalitarian and Humanistic
The Green stage emphasizes equality, community, and environmental concerns. In the French election, Green stage thinking is evident in:The success of the left-wing New Popular Front (NPF) coalition, which campaigned on issues such as reducing retirement age, increasing minimum wage, and addressing cost-of-living concerns. These egalitarian policies align closely with Green stage values.The emphasis on social justice and environmental issues in the left-wing coalition's agenda reflects Green stage priorities.

Protests in Kenya

June 27:

Protests in Kenya around proposed tax raises
A connection to "Fragile International Financial Systems": The involvement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Kenya's economic reforms underscores the interconnectedness of global financial systems. The IMF's $4.4 billion support program and its requirements for "fiscal consolidation" demonstrate how international financial institutions can influence national policies, sometimes leading to social unrest.

Planetary Boundaries: The IMF program was partly a response to "devastating cycles of droughts and floods made worse by climate change," highlighting the intersection of economic and environmental concerns.

Let´s remember the demographic situation of Kenya: Demography Kenya, in contrast to e.g. Germany; The protests are led by Gen-Z;

Power Outage - Balcan

We learned about power outages on the balcan.

e.g. https://balkaninsight.com/2024/06/21/major-power-blackout-hits-albania-bosnia-croatia-montenegro/

The reasons: Heat, therefore people switch on their cooling devices. In Addition: they try to leave coal, but have not yet set up their alternative systems;

We can see how different patterns come together:

A) planetary boundaries

B) unresolved questions of resources

C) Variables - direct correlation - the more - the more

D) Limited resources - tragedy of the commons

E) Limits of System Stability - tipping points - when quantitative change leads to qualitative change
